Dementia care

Making every day a little easier.

Your dementia journey, supported

We know how confusing and overwhelming life can feel with dementia, for both residents and families. That’s why our care is gentle, familiar and reassuring, helping people over 65 feel safe, settled and supported. With kind faces, thoughtful routines and plenty of patience, Forest Home makes each day a little easier.

Making dementia care meaningful

Dementia Champion support

With a certified Dementia Champion, we offer personalised training and support, creating a safe space to ask questions and learn practical ways to provide care.

Family and
community sessions

Working alongside the Dementia Society, we use activities, role play and interactive approaches to learning, in group or one-to-one settings, to make each session engaging and easy to follow.

Sensory tools
for comfort

We use sensory toys, robotic pets, dolls, ribbons and personalised care tools to help residents feel calm and connected. These gentle aids can offer reassurance and spark meaningful moments throughout the day.

Raising
awareness locally

We lead awareness sessions in the community for those newly diagnosed with dementia. Through informative talks, hands-on props and friendly guidance, individuals and families can understand the condition and feel more confident.

Therapy dogs and activities

In addition to sensory activities, we welcome therapy dogs and organise engaging experiences to brighten our residents’ days. These visits bring comfort, joy and companionship.

Support is just a conversation away— get in touch with our team to learn how our care can help your loved one.

When higher care is needed

While we provide compassionate and tailored dementia care, there may be times when very advanced dementia requires specialised support beyond what we offer. In these cases, we’ll help guide you towards the right next step to ensure your loved one receives the care they need.

Common dementia care questions

Can families visit regularly?

Yes, we invite and encourage visiting at any time so families can stay close and enjoy time together in a familiar, homely setting.

Consistent routines, kind faces and calming activities help residents feel secure each day.

When additional needs arise, our crisis team offers vital mental health support, while our Gables team ensures medical, therapeutic and daily care needs are fully met.

As needs change, so does our care. We stay connected with residents and families to make sure support evolves naturally.

How dementia care can help

Reduced confusion

Specialist dementia care may help to create a sense of predictability, easing disorientation and reducing moments of confusion or distress.

Through personalised activities, dementia care supports cognitive function, encouraging recognition and creating small but important memories.

Expert dementia care offers flexible, compassionate responses that promote dignity, manage challenges sensitively and maintain quality of life.
