Day Care Assistant

Forest Home is recruiting Care Assistants to work in Sible Hedingham, CO9. No experience is necessary as full paid training is provided.

You will be part of an established family-run care home .

Your main duties will include:

Responsible to: Registered Manager / Head of Care / Senior

Professional Standards

  • Maintaining professional standards of care within the home at all times
  • Take full precautions for the safety of residents, staff and visitors within the home
  • To complete any training courses necessary
  • Take the necessary fire precautions and adhere at all times to the fire rules
  • Adhere to moving and handling policy and individual moving and handling assessments
  • Adhere to infection control policy
  • To have a clean and tidy appearance
  • To consult care plans and risk assessments on a regular basis
  • Total care of elderly residents including confused, disabled, frail, incontinent and when necessary, a dying resident
  • Promoting initiative, individual potential and interest in all residents within the home
  • Assist residents to preserve their dignity, self-respect and privacy
  • Attend to laundry and residents personal clothing
  • Regular 2 hourly checks minimal to be completed and residents turned regularly when required, more frequent checks to be done when resident unwell or dying
  • Drinks to be served at any time upon resident’s requests
  • To assist residents to eat when required in a non-hurried, pleasant manner
  • Assist any residents to bed who are still up, and get any residents up who wish in the mornings, washing and dressing them
  • Housework to be completed
  • If you are in doubt about something when caring for a resident, always seek advice from the person on-call
  • Consult night staff routine procedures for a more in-depth list of things to be completed.

  • Complete all mandatory and relevant training as required. 
  • Adhere to all fire safety regulations and take necessary fire precautions. 
  • Follow moving and handling policies and individual moving and handling assessments. 
  • Comply with infection control policies and procedures. 
  • Maintain a clean and tidy personal appearance; wear correct uniform and appropriate footwear at all times. 
  • Regularly consult and follow residents’ care plans and risk assessments.

Resident Care Duties

  • Have a naturally caring and compassionate nature

  • Understand the importance of maintaining our Service Users’ dignity and respect
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Provide total care for elderly residents, including those who are confused, disabled, frail, incontinent, or receiving palliative care. 
  • Promote residents’ independence, initiative, individual potential, and personal interests. 
  • Preserve and promote residents’ dignity, self-respect, and privacy at all times. 
  • Assist residents with personal care, including washing and dressing. 
  • Make beds each morning and change linen as required. 
  • Attend to residents’ laundry and personal clothing. 
  • Serve meals and drinks, ensuring drinks are available at any time upon request. 
  • Assist residents with eating where required, in a calm, unhurried, and pleasant manner. 
  • Keep bedrooms tidy, including drawers and wardrobes, for residents for whom you are the key worker.

  • Seek advice from the Senior Carer on duty, Head of Care or the Registered Manager if unsure about any aspect of resident care. 
  • Refer to care staff routine procedures for a more detailed list of required duties.
