Professional Standards

  • Maintain high professional and food hygiene standards within the kitchen at all times.
  • Comply with all Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Environmental Health regulations.
  • Follow infection control procedures and safe working practices.
  • Adhere to COSHH regulations regarding the use and storage of cleaning chemicals.
  • Ensure all mandatory training and food hygiene certifications are kept up to date.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe kitchen environment at all times.
  • Wear appropriate uniform and protective clothing, maintaining a clean and professional appearance.
  • Report any hazards, equipment faults, or concerns to the Home Manager immediately.

Catering Duties

  • Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious, balanced meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences.
  • Cater for special diets, including diabetic, low-sodium, allergen-free, texture-modified, and culturally specific requirements.
  • Ensure meals are appetising, well-presented, and served at the correct temperature.
  • Prepare snacks and beverages as required throughout the day.
  • Order food supplies and check deliveries to ensure quality and quantity standards are met and stock is managed effectively.
  • Rotate stock and ensure correct storage in line with food safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records including temperature checks, cleaning schedules, and food safety documentation.

Resident-Focused Responsibilities

  • Promote residents’ dignity and independence during mealtimes.
  • Consult with residents where possible regarding menu choices and preferences.
  • Respond promptly and respectfully to residents’ requests relating to meals and refreshments.
  • Support a pleasant, calm, and inclusive dining experience.

Team Responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively with care staff to ensure residents’ dietary needs are met.
  • Communicate any concerns regarding residents’ appetite, weight loss, or nutritional intake to senior staff.
  • Assist with kitchen-related cleaning duties and ensure all equipment is properly maintained.
  • Seek guidance from the Registered Manager if unsure about any aspect of the role.
  • Refer to Forest Home’s policies and procedures for a more detailed outline of responsibilities.
